Install Plugin in Wordpress

We can install plugin using three methods in wordpress. We can see briefly about all the three methods for plugin installation in this post.

After Wordpress installation we should know the basic things in the wordpress like Theme installation, Plugin installation, Menu Creation, Posts Management and Page Management.

What is Plugin? 

WordPress plugins are bits of codes that can be expand the functionality of your WordPress website without affecting any core plugins. You can check this post about wordpress hooks.

Methods to Install Plugins:

1. Search and Install Plugins in Wordpress admin
2. Upload Plugin file and Install
3. Upload Plugin files in the Plugins folder and Install.

1. Search and Install Plugins in Wordpress admin

Step 1: First login into your Wordpress admin dashboard. After logged in select Plugins menu from left side.

Step 2: You can see list of plugins available in plugins directory and click Add new button, it will redirect to plugins search list. You should enter plugin name or keywords in the search box. Based on your keyword plugins list will be shown here.

Step 3: Find correct plugin for requirement and click install button. I have searched contact form plugin.

Step 4: Activate the plugin

2. Upload Plugin file and Install

Step 1: Download plugin from wordpress plugin directory and login into your Wordprss admin dashboard. After logged in select Plugins menu from left side.

Step 2: You can see list of plugins available in plugins directory. Click Add new button and upload your plugin file from your local system, then press install button.

Step 3: Activate the plugin

3. Upload Plugin files in the Plugins folder in the server and Install.

Step 1: Download plugin from wordpress plugin directory and upload plugin files to Wp-content/plugins folder using FTP.

Step 2: Login into your Wordprss admin dashboard. After logged in select Plugins menu from left side.

Step 3: You can see the plugin name in the plugins page.
